What is in the 3-week plan?

Over 3 weeks you will have 2 days of intermittent fasting, called 16/8 fasting, this means for 2 days a week you will finish your meal at night and leave a 16-hour window without eating and you will eat within the remaining 8 hours during the day. For example, you may eat your dinner at 7pm and then not eat till 1pm the next day.

The rest of the week you will be carb cycling, so the meals have been structured so that you have some very low carbohydrate meals with more fat and protein followed by some with more complex carbohydrate meals, this has also been carefully structured around the fasting days so that we allow as much as possible the body to enter a fat burning hot zone. Fasting plus carb cycling is a fantastic way to not only shift the weight but keep the metabolism challenged.

How does eating this way benefit me?

If you are new to fasting then this is an amazing way to kick start your fasting journey, it is gentle enough to not send you running for the hills, but it is also enough of a fast continuously over the 3-week period to allow your body to experience the wonderful results from fasting.

Weight loss is one result from fasting, but fasting is an age-old tradition of which millions of people do and have done for centuries, it is not new, it is just that as Westerners we tend not to know so much about fasting. Many religions fast.

Fasting is not the same as calorie restriction, because when we fast we are not eating and therefore our key hormones like insulin which are the fat storing hormones are allowed to rest and stay calm within our bodies, not only does this help us repair such issues as type 2 diabetes and prediabetes but it also allows our body to access other key hormones like glucagon which is the opposite to insulin, this allows our bodies to access stored energy and therefore stored fat! Hence, we can lose weight as the fat comes out of our fat stores. That is why when we eat a calorie restrictive diet where we just eat less calories but eat all day without concern for what we are eating or how often we are eating, our body finds it much harder to lose weight.

Weight loss is very much a hormonal issue! By tapping into the right hormones and at the right times we can really help to shift the needle of weight loss!

Fasting also allows for the body to get rid of toxic cells of which when we are always eating our body cannot do this. Over time you may be able to do longer fasts which can really push this incredible process. This can help us keep our bodies free of disease.

The beauty of fasting and going low carb is that the body stops you from feeling hungry, carbohydrates are the driving force behind sudden hunger pangs and becoming hungry more quickly than eating higher protein and fat meals. In addition, there are other hormones that are triggered that help you feel more satisfied and with less need to seek out more food.

So not only will you feel less hungry over all, you will feel lighter and more energised and more inclined to want to do things..

What happens once the 3 weeks is over?

After the 3 weeks you can return to the beginning of the plan and start again, the plan has a high nutrient density of delicious foods including important vegetables so vital for our health and well-being that you cannot go wrong with doing this plan as many times over or as and when you need it – for example, going on holiday or have a special trip or event planned.
